Sozopol - where to eat, and where to beach
Чети на български
[Last updated July 2017] As you might have already noticed, Sozopol is one of my favourite cities at the Black Sea coast. I love everything about this place - from the wonderful beaches to the romantic atmosphere in the Old Town. That's why I decided to share with you some examined bars and restaurants, in case you happen to find yourself here one day.
The beaches
I avoid going to Sozopol Beach, and I prefer the surrounding beaches at camping Gradina and camping Smokinya. Gradina is more kind of a party place, where young people go camping or just beaching, and partying till sunrise.
Another beach bar at Gradina is Bash Beach. It offers lounges and umbrellas, The price for using them is 15 leva (7.5 euro). It's a cool place, with cool people, nice beach music and cold drinks.
Right next to Bash Beach is Kite Bar - a very trendy place right now. The price for using lounges and a beach umbrella is 20 leva (10 euro). People go there not only for the day but also for partying in the evenings too.
Camp Smokinya is not that loud and entertaining, but it is still one of my favourite beaches. Beach bar Smokinja is the place where you can spend a whole day listening to some nice tunes, drinking cocktails and enjoying this little piece of heaven.
Eating
I highly recommend you to avoid eating Black Sea mussels if your stomach is sensitive. Also, avoid drinking tap water and skip eating soups at restaurants.
You are on a vacation so you can treat yourself properly. For great pancakes, I recommend you pay a visit to "Rabotilnitsa na veselite palachinki" (I want to hear you say it, lol). Seriously, these are the best pancakes in town, filled with home made jam. They also offer home made lemonade and a lavender juice.
From the restaurants, I highly recommend "Sv. Ivan" (see more here). Another fine restaurant is "Antichen kladenetz". Try the salad with arugula and cherry tomatoes - it is very tasty.
Another very popular at the moment place is Dzhanka del Mar. Sadly, I haven't eaten there yet, but it is on my list. There are good reviews on 4 square, and the rating is also very high, so I really hope the food there is indeed exceptional.
Hope you found something for yourself in this post. And please, let me know if you've already been to Sozopol. What are your thoughts?

DeleteI am bookmarking this post for future reference. I have never thought about visiting Sozopol but it sounds like a lovely place indeed. Thank you for pointing out to avoid Black Mussels, drinking tap water and having soups, the last thing that we want is to fall ill during a vacation.

Thanks Pablo! Glad you liked this post!
DeleteI agree with Rowena, you definitely should be an ambassador for Bulgaria. I have a couple friends from there and the way that you talk about areas there are very different, and I've not heard or seen anyone share it with so much passion as yourself. I've not been to Sozopol, but would definitely be interested in visiting one day in the future. Thanks for sharing and also thanks for always taking time to comment on my posts, it truly means a lot to me. x/Madison

DeleteHello Sany! Good to know about these informations and your recommendations, because I have never been in Bulgaria and I'd like to visit your country one day, so any ideas where you can eat or where to beach are welcome ;) What's more, I used to learn Russian language, now, in my new work, I'm learning basics of Ukraine (because I don't know if you knew, but in Poland there are a lot of employees from Ukraine), so saying the name of the restaurant with pancakes will be piece of cake for myself, ha! ;D
ReplyDeleteTake care, dear friend!

You are always welcome to come and visit Ivonne. I had no idea that there are many Ukrainians in Poland. Interesting!
DeleteWow, so amazing photos!

I'll definitely use your blog as a guide for some trip to Bulgaria. Love how you described everything. I can imagine myself there perfectly, drinking that lavender juice :) I like that you said what to avoid, as well. Sometimes we don't get informed and bad things happen. Everything looks great and I can see clearly why you like that place :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend! :)
Thank you Tijana! Enjoy the weekend too!
DeleteI would love to teleport myself to a beach right now! Love the mood from these pics.

DeleteMost beautiful in the world, Bulgaria! How I miss it! These photos take me back to some happy childhood memories!
