Just before the holidays, I used Airbnb for the first time in my life. Many friends have told me that they were happy with the service, so I had no doubt it was a good social platform for finding a pocket-friendly and safe accommodation in the country and abroad. Unfortunately, I had no luck and faced some issues, which could have been easily avoided, though. Despite that, I think Airbnb is a great idea, but have in mind that there are a couple of things you should know before starting to use it.

1. First of all, check when has the host been registered and what feedback he has received. Needless to say that the positive feedback will save you from a future headache.
2. Closely review the photos of the room, because in many cases it can be different from what it is in fact.
3. Slow down before you book your stay. Connect to your host via e-mail or give them a call to check if the place is available to book. Many hosts tend to neglect to update the information on the site, and as a result, things can go wrong. In my case, there were no rooms left, but I still managed to book and pay; after that, I had to contact the host, who contacted Airbnb to make a refund, which took me around 1 month to get my money back. You don't want this, right?
4. In case something goes wrong, do not hesitate to ask your host to help you.
5. You cannot contact Airbnb just like that, so I suggest you find them on the social media. Usually, there is a phone number provided in the description. Current phone number +1 855-424-7262.
6. You can always get a refund if the host or the site mess up something with your reservation. For this, you need to contact your host first. If they refuse to help you, then you can directly contact Airbnb. They will issue the refund to your account, but it may take up to 5 days to receive it.
Have you ever used Airbnb? If you have anything more to add, please, share in the comments! Hope these tips were helpful!

  1. За пръв път чувам за този сайт. Ще поразгледам. Падвам се, че сподели някои тънкости, което си е супер, ако човек не е запознат! Хубав ден!

  3. I have been thinking about using Airbnb but never done it. Not sure if I could cope with the hassle if any occurred... That's why I always opt for hotels, also even more because I travel alone most of the time.

Thanks for the package!!! It has arrived safely and I like all the goodies. I will share a pic in a post next week :)

    Have a nice day!

    1. Yay! So glad to hear that! Looking forward to seeing your photo! :)

  4. Although I travel often, I still haven't tried it. Your tips are really helpful and actually I would love to give it a try :)

  5. I have never used AirBNB before, but I will look into it when I travel next time. With kids it is much more enjoyable staying in a place like this instead of a hotel room.

  10. I can ever use it. Thank you.

  11. Thank you for sharing these tips Sany. I've heard both really good and really bad things about Airbnb from friends who have used it but I think it really can vary from experience to experience. I think it would be cool but it always seems like it would just be safer to stay at a hotel.

We don't have nay snow yet but the winter weather has arrived in NYC and it's been freezing for the past few days.

  12. I've used Airbnb a couple of times and fortunately had a good experience. But, these are definitely helpful tips. We used to use Couchsurfing a long while ago and met up with a lot of people on travelling ventures, even having a hotel it was fun to just get know like-minded locals.

  13. Аз все още имам известни резервации към този сайт. Въпреки че по-големият ми брат пътува из цял свят и го ползва навсякъде, аз някак си предпочитам сигурността на хотелите.
Може би един ден ще се престраша, но не знам кога ;)

  14. Great tips - I haven't booked via Airbnb yet but I would consider it. There was a nightmare story about someone who recently let out their flat for New Year's Eve va Airbnb and people held a party there and trashed it!

  15. These are great tips. I haven't personally used Airbnb for myself but I booked a place in Japan for my brother and communicated with the host from the beginning until the end. The experience was great for both me and my brother. I totally agree about reading feedback. The morepistive reviews, the better experience you tend to get.

Thank you for your comment on my blog :)

  16. Hello dear friend! First of all, I have never used airbnb before, but I have heard that it really great when it comes to -as you mentioned here - pocket-friendly travelling. You gave great tips and if I'll be occasion (ok, or few of them)in this year to travel, I'll check this platform out, thank you for your tips in advance :) Hope you'll be having divine weekend, my dear friend!
