Dimitrovgrad, Serbia

Dimitrovgrad in Serbia is just 40min away from the Bulgarian capital Sofia. That's why many people go there just for a day, on a culinary trip to be more precise. The other name of the city known amongst Bulgarians and Serbians is Caribrod. The town itself is small and the population is around 6000 people.

Downtown there is a monument of the biggest Bulgarian national hero - Vasil Levski. There is almost nothing to see in town and it feels like time has stopped. If you go there on a rainy day, you will most likely want to go to the highlight there - Kapica restaurant. There is one thing that attracts people to go there - food.

From the beverages, you can choose between different kinds of "rakia" or beer. One of the things I recommend as a starter is the Shopska salad.

The French Fries with garlic are a true delight...

And for dessert, I highly recommend you try the "banitza" with sour cherry filling...

"Kapica" restaurant has a great outdoor garden. The place gets busy on non-working days, so if you decide to go there, I recommend you book a table in advance. Their phone number is +381 10 360465. They accept both Serbian Dinars and Bulgarian Levs.

ReplyDeleteThe food looks really delicious, especially these fries! Shoe shopping I find really easy, my nightmare are jeans. It's like a reality check where I realize that I have gained/not lost any weight, haha. The last time I bought a pair was four years ago...
ReplyDeleteHaha, that was funny!
Deleteis that cheese on the salad?? looks good! what size shoe is that in US? I wear a size 5 and have a hard time shopping for shoes...they never have my size!
ReplyDeleteYes, white cheese. I think the size in US is 8, but I'm not quite sure.
