Amsterdam - day 1

"Welcome to Amsterdam!" was my first reaction when we arrived at Tramhaltes Centraal Station. First time there and it felt so different. I was a little bit confused and amazed but I knew it was going to be awesome.

We stayed at Hotel Mosaic City Center. I'd definitely recommend it because of the location. The neighbourhood is quiеt and there are lots of places for breakfast. There is a supermarket and the hotel is 20min walking away from the city centre.

What I really like about Amsterdam is the freedom, the streets, the architecture and the kind people everywhere. The cyclists are a lot and they have the priority on the road so you have to be aware of them. They don't really care and are driving like they are alone on the road, haha. The weed is legalised in the coffee-shops and you can't buy if you are under 18 years old (they will ask for your ID card). In most of the places, you can't smoke cigarettes, but smoking weed is allowed.

The canals that were built in the past make the tiny streets even more charming. If you look closer you will see that there is a hook on the top of each building. They serve as tools for picking up furniture and other objects with a rope, instead of using the stairs.

After the walk around the city centre, we went for some beers at The Bulldog Lounge. The next two days were dedicated to the Heineken Experience, Amsterdam Museum and many other interesting places.

  1. It is one of the city Id love to visit, it is so charming, wonderful and for what I know and read, the people there are so nice and friendly. Ive enjoyed your photos a lot, they are flawless and made me want to be there. How weird the thing of the hook, I didnt know it!:) You also look very refined with the coat. Have a great week Stanislava! xo

  2. It is absolutely gorgeous! I love their architecture. Love the waterways that run through it. Very pretty picture of you on the bridge. That's funny about weed there! HAHAHA

  3. You have captured Amsterdam so well with your stunning photos. My favourite is the one showing the reflection of the trees in the water. It's so picturesque with both the fabulous architecture and of course the canals. The hook on top of the buildings is a clever idea. Looking forward to the next part of your trip!

  4. I really like these photos as they remind me of the time I spent there almost two years ago. I might go back there at the beginning of May... Looking forward to more pics and impressions.
