Vittoriano - One of the biggest tourist attractions in Rome

Piazza Venezia became one of my favourite places in Rome, so I visited it twice. Located in the heart of the city, being visited by thousands of tourists daily, the square impresses with a big monument of Vittorio Emanuele II.

You cannot miss Piazza Venezzia, as it is one of the biggest city's landmark. You will notice that sitting is not allowed inside the square area, and there are uniformed guards that keep an eye on visitors.

I was interested to know why it is forbidden to sit on the steps, so I went to ask one of them. He kindly explained me (btw Italians are one of the most friendly and hospitable people I've ever talked to), that under the monument there is an ancient theatre, and it is disrespectful to sit on it.

A tip from me: don't miss to catch the panoramic elevator that will take you up to the top of the monument. There is a breathtaking 360 degrees view of the city. The fee is 7 euro and it's definitely worth a visit!

Have you ever visited Piazza Venezia? What do you think of this place?

  9. I was looking forward to see your posts from Rome :) I visited Rome almost 5 years ago and it's definitely one of the most beautiful cities I've visited and my favorite Italian city. I remember the square and that it wasn't allowed to sit there but I didn't know why. It's cool that you asked and now we know the story, too :)The view from there is breathtaking and everything looks so familiar to me :) You look gorgeous, too, of course! :)
    Enjoy the weekend!
