Eindhoven, the city of light

Hello, guys! Here are some photos from our last Holland trip day. We spent the last night in Eindhoven because our flight back to Sofia was early in the morning on the next day. 2 years ago I met Johfra, a friend from Eindhoven and when we told him that we are going to the Netherlands he was like "You are very welcome to stay at my place!", and of course, we agreed.

Even though Amsterdam was an unforgettable experience I was very excited to see Eindhoven too. We arrived in the late afternoon at the airport where Johfra was waiting for us. He drove us to his place in order to leave our luggage there and we immediately went on a sightseeing and beer tour around the city.

Eindhoven is a small, industrial and modern city. What's interesting to know about it is that it is called "The city of light". There are many distinctive Philips locations and buildings because Gerard Philips and his father founded the company in Eindhoven.

Johfra took us to the most remarkable places. He showed us the Eindhoven railway station which has the shape of the first radio designed by Philips. If you look closely you will notice the antenna, the speaker and that the building looks like a radio indeed.

We went for dinner on one of the streets with the most bars in Netherlands in general. After that Johfra took us on a bar tour where we tried 6 or 7 different kinds of beers that we have never heard about before.

Eindhoven is a very nice city. It is not as touristic as Amsterdam is and life there is absolutely normal. Thank you Johfra for making our stay in Eindhoven so interesting!

  4. I have never been to Eindhoven but from your photos it looks like a very nice city. To be honest, I like Amsterdam but I much more prefer the smaller places in The Netherlands, such as Maastricht, The Hague and Utrecht. Other cities I would like to visit Rotterdam one day.
